First Aid for Mental Health Youth is a 12 hour course delivered over two days. This course is delivered virtually or can be delivered face-to-face at your place of work.
This course is designed for those working with or caring for children through to young adults (7yrs to 18Yrs). The courses will give learners a good understanding of youth mental health issues, how to identify and support those in their care.
This course is ideal for anyone working with young people, as well as individuals who wish to have a better understanding of youth mental health issues, and how to help.
About the course
Our one-day course qualifies you as a Youth MHFA, giving you:
- An understanding of common mental health issues and how they can affect young people
- Ability to spot signs of mental ill health in young people and guide them to a place of support
- Knowledge and confidence to advocate for mental health awareness
- Skills to support positive wellbeing
- What is mental health and mental ill health?
- Stigma and discrimination
- The Mental Health First Aid action plan
- Depression
- Suicide
- Anxiety
- Self-harm
- Eating disorders
- Psychosis
- Recovery
- Resilience
You will receive a certificate of attendance to say you are a Youth Mental Health First Aider, a Youth MHFA manual to refer to whenever you need it, and a workbook including some helpful tools to support your own mental health.
Duration: Two days of virtual learning.
If you are booking an in-house course, you are free to choose the Start / Finish times for the training.
We recommend starting at approx. 9:00 am as this will enable the course to finish at 16:30
Certificates:
Certificate: On completion of the course you will receive an Mental Health First Aid Youth certificate which is valid for 3 years
